She recalled some hilarious stories from her youth<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s4\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">. For example<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s4\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> the time, when she was twenty nine and escaped form Yugoslavia for good so her strict mother, who couldn<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s4\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">\u2019<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s4\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">t find her daughter ended up going to the police to report her missing. Abramovi<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s4\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">\u0107 <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s4\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">said ironically that she was horrified to find out about this. The project was initially called <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s4\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">\u201c<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s4\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">How to Die<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s4\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">\u201d <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s4\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">and in it she wanted to explore the notion of death on stage in the light of all the wars and horrors that were happening in the world at the time through an opera piece that dives immediately into <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s4\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">the<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s4\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> fina<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s4\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">le<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s4\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"s4\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">She admitted that <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s4\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">\u201c<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s4\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">everything to do with reality <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s4\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">\u2014 <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s4\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">we refuse, but stage <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s4\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">\u2014 <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s4\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">we love<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s4\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">.<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s4\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">\u201d <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_16351\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-16351\" style=\"width: 1377px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a ref=\"magnificPopup\" href=\"https:\/\/londoncult.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/img_4871-1.jpeg\" data-lbwps-width=\"2526\" data-lbwps-height=\"3522\" data-lbwps-srcsmall=\"https:\/\/londoncult.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/img_4871-1.jpeg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-16351 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/londoncult.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/img_4871-1-scaled.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1377\" height=\"1920\"><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-16351\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">\u00a9Vava Lotareva<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"s5\"><span class=\"s4\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"><br \/>\nThe book itself is a recollection of Abramovi<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s4\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">\u0107\u2019<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s4\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">s travels over the last forty years. She stayed in many hotels, which in the beginning of her journey were so cheap that <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s4\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">\u201c<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s4\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">the toilet paper was more expensive than the room<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s4\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">\u201d <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s4\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">there, and from each she saved stationary with her writings, drawings, photographs and collages. Through those, her journey can be followed from Tokyo to Charlotte Street, London to Morocco<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s4\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">, <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s4\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">Moscow and so on. Each page bursts with thought and character, creating a sense of Abramovi<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s4\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">\u0107\u2019<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s4\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">s real presence as one memory is replaced with another. In her charismatic manner, Abramovi<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s4\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">\u0107 <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s4\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">responded to all of them and also invited everyone to join her at the Royal Academy of Arts on the 11th of December for a seven-minute silence to think to about the world and everything that has been happening recently.
