class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">emerge, Fargeat cultivates<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">an<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> atmosphere of discomfort through a rich arsenal of cinematic devices. Her primary tools<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"><\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">include hyper-detailing, <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">\u201c<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">binocular<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">\u201d<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">perspectives, liminal spaces,<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> and<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> bass frequencies pushed to their peaks. The enemy, however, is swiftly identified<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">\u2014<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">the <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">patriarchy, personified by the repulsive producer Harvey (!), who dismisses 60-year-old fitness show host Elizabeth Sparkle (Demi Moore). He seeks a new sexy starlet to boost ratings and satiate the modern audience. Here, Fargeat excels where her predecessors did<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">:<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> she skillfully subjects her audience to a barrage of somatic perversions<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">, <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">meticulously <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">playing out <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">the dark permutations of her vision. The narrative&#8217;s focal point shifts from mere bodily events<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> to<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> the dynamics of their metamorphoses. The film&#8217;s trajectory spiral<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">s<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> deeper into <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">a<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> vortex of extreme <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">corporal <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">manifestations,<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">continually<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">pushing<\/span><\/span><span <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">accompanied by brutality and violence? <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">\u201c<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">Substance<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">\u201d<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> does not offer adequate answers, nor any meaningful intuitions: its<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span
