All of us fans can&#8217;t wait to meet the new cast! While we wait for the cast list to be announced, let me introduce you and share some fun facts about the show!<\/p>\n<p>Heathers is originally a dark comedy film released in 1989 that follows a high school girl named Veronica Sawyer, played by Winona Ryder, who navigates the social hierarchy of her school dominated by a clique of popular girls all named Heather. The film takes a dark turn when Veronica falls for the new student, J.D., played by Christian Slater, who has a rebellious and dangerous streak. Together, they plot to eliminate the Heathers, leading to a series of shocking and deadly events. The musical retains the dark humour and themes of the original film, while incorporating twist and an engaging core.<\/p>\n<p>The story follows Veronica Sawyer as she confronts the complexities of high school life, including the pressures of popularity and the dark side of teen relationships. The musical features a mix of upbeat songs and poignant ballads, highlighting the teenagers&#8217; struggles and emotions.<\/p>\n<p>Key characters include Veronica, J.D., and the three Heathers: Heather Chandler, Heather Duke, and Heather McNamara. Picked and directed by Andy Fickman, here are the actors who flawlessly sang and acted in the show:<\/p>\n<p>Jenna Innes (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/jennnainnnes\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">@jennainnes<\/a>), playing Veronica Sawyer. She proudly hails from Aberdeen and returned this year to Heathers, having starred in the musical as Veronica last year. Jenna studied at The Musical Theatre Academy, where she was nominated for Best Actress in a New Musical for her past role in Animus.<\/p>\n<p>Keelan Mcauley (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/keelan.mcauley\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">@keelan.mcauley<\/a>), playing Jason &#8216;J.D.&#8217; Dean, grew up in the small Canadian town of Calgary and graduated from the Guildford School of Acting at the University of Surrey.<\/p>\n<p>Esme Bowdler (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/Esmebowdler\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">@Esmebowdler<\/a>), playing Heather Chandler, has studied at the Arts Educational school, London. She graduated in 2021 and was recently a finalist of ITV&#8217;s Mamma Mia! After previously appearing in the 2021 UK and Ireland tour of Heathers, she was thrilled to return this year. Photo by Pamela Raith<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Iv\u00e1n Fern\u00e1ndez Gonz\u00e1lez (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/ivanfergon\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">@ivanfergon<\/a>), playing Kurt Kelly, was ecstatic to return to Heathers, as it was his first musical ever in 2021. He studied at the Guildford School of Acting.<\/p>\n<p>Jason Battersby (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/jason.battersby\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">@jason.battersby<\/a>), playing Ram Sweeney. Jason studied at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance.<\/p>\n<p>Connor McFarlane, playing Ram&#8217;s dad, Big Bud Dean (J.D.&#8217;s Dad) and Coach Ripper. Connor is an actor and writer from the North West of Ireland who studied at the Royal Academy of Music.<\/p>\n<p>Alexander Service (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/alexander_service\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><span class=\"atwho-query\">@alex<\/span>ander_service<\/a>), playing Kurt&#8217;s dad, Veronica&#8217;s dad and Principal Gowan. After playing international grade rugby and becoming a mechanical engineer, Alexander started his acting career later in life than most. Photo by Pamela Raith<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The great ensemble includes Ben Fenwick, Lewis Asquith, Bradly Doko, Jasmine Cole, Kelly Sweeney, Eliza Bowden, May Tether and Madeleine Hargrave.<\/p>\n<p>Heathers became popular due to all the catchy songs like Beautiful, Candy Store, Fight for Me, Freeze Your Brain, Big Fun, Dead Girl Walking, The Me Inside of Me, You&#8217;re Welcome, Never Shut Up Again, and Our Love is God in act 1. Act 2 includes My Dead Gay Son, Seventeen, Shine a Light, Lifeboat, Shine a Light (reprise), I Say No, Hey Yo Westerburg (not recorded), Kindergarten Boyfriend, Yo Girl, Meant to Be Yours, Dead Girl Walking (reprise) and Seventeen (reprise).<\/p>\n<p>This tour wouldn&#8217;t have been possible without the help of Andy Fickman, the director, and Gary Lloyd, the choreographer.<\/p>\n<p>We fans will, of course, miss this tour and its incredible cast. We can&#8217;t wait for more to come and look forward to seeing each of them flourish in in their individual paths in the future.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<style>.featured-image img {object-position: bottom;}<\/style>\n<p>Heathers fans are devastated over the recent closure of the show, with its final performance taking place on 23 November.
