Meanwhile, the sold-out&nbsp;<em>The Fear of 13<\/em>&nbsp;by&nbsp;<strong>Lindsey Ferrentino<\/strong>&nbsp;(we wrote about the Donmar Warehouse production&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/londoncult.co.uk\/vnutrenniy-svet-prigovorennogo-k-kazni-edrien-broudi-igraet-nika-yarrisa\/\"><u>here<\/u><\/a>) left empty-handed, as did&nbsp;<em>Shifters<\/em>&nbsp;and the much-discussed&nbsp;<em>The Years<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Still,&nbsp;<em>The Years<\/em>&nbsp;wasn\u2019t entirely overlooked \u2013&nbsp;<strong>Eline Arbo<\/strong>&nbsp;won for&nbsp;<strong>Best Director<\/strong>, and&nbsp;<strong>Romola Garai<\/strong>&nbsp;picked up&nbsp;<strong>Best Supporting Actress<\/strong>&nbsp;for her role in the production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But it was&nbsp;<em>Giant<\/em>&nbsp;that truly swept the evening: in addition to&nbsp;<strong>Best Play<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>John Lithgow<\/strong>&nbsp;won&nbsp;<strong>Best Actor<\/strong>, and&nbsp;<strong>Elliot Levey<\/strong>took home&nbsp;<strong>Best Supporting Actor<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Oedipus<\/em>&nbsp;(<a href=\"https:\/\/londoncult.co.uk\/hor-bezmolvstvuet-rami-malek-v-roli-edipa\/\"><u>read more<\/u><\/a>) was awarded&nbsp;<strong>Best Production<\/strong>, a well-earned win after a string of sold-out performances and wide-ranging praise from both audiences and critics.<br><strong>Lesley Manville<\/strong>&nbsp;was named&nbsp;<strong>Actress of the Season<\/strong>&nbsp;for her role in&nbsp;<em>Oedipus<\/em>&nbsp;(the category also featured&nbsp;<strong>Rosie Sheehy<\/strong>&nbsp;for&nbsp;<em>Machinal<\/em>&nbsp;and *<em>Indira Varma<\/em>, also in&nbsp;<em>Oedipus<\/em>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The Curious Case of Benjamin Button<\/em>&nbsp;won&nbsp;<strong>Best New Musical<\/strong>, beating out&nbsp;<em>MJ The Musical<\/em>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<em>Why Am I So Single?<\/em><em><br><\/em><em>Natasha, Pierre and The Great Comet of 1812<\/em>&nbsp;didn\u2019t go unnoticed either \u2013&nbsp;<strong>Maimuna Memon<\/strong>&nbsp;won&nbsp;<strong>Best Supporting Performance<\/strong>&nbsp;for her role.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally,&nbsp;<em>Fiddler on the Roof<\/em>&nbsp;was crowned&nbsp;<strong>Best Revival of a Classic Musical<\/strong>, leaving contenders like&nbsp;<em>Hello, Dolly!<\/em>,&nbsp;<em>Oliver!<\/em>, and&nbsp;<em>Starlight Express<\/em>&nbsp;without wins.<br>But&nbsp;<strong>Imelda Staunton<\/strong>&nbsp;shone through, winning&nbsp;<strong>Best Actress in a Musical<\/strong>&nbsp;for&nbsp;<em>Hello, Dolly!<\/em>, while&nbsp;<strong>John Dagleish<\/strong>&nbsp;took&nbsp;<strong>Best Actor in a Musical<\/strong>&nbsp;for&nbsp;<em>The Curious Case of Benjamin Button<\/em>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Last night in London, the\u00a0Olivier Awards, the UK\u2019s most prestigious theatre accolades, were handed out at the Royal Albert Hall.
