Kamola Makhmudova Honored with Inaugural ICA Outstanding Contribution Award for Pioneering Work in Compliance and Financial Crime Prevention

On June 27th, at the prestigious Westminster Park Plaza, Kamola Makhmudova, a celebrated figure from Uzbekistan, was honored with the inaugural ICA Outstanding Contribution Award 2024. Contribution Award – the only award that was awarded and selected directly by the International Compliance Association. This award, newly introduced marks a significant moment in the history of compliance and financial crime prevention, recognising Makhudova’s impact in these fields.

Selected by the ICA President and Global Practitioner Advisory Board for her more than two decades of excellence in finance, particularly at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Makhmudova’s achievements set a high bar for the award. Reflecting on this significant honor, she stated, “Receiving this first-ever award from the ICA is not just a personal accolade but a milestone for the industry. It acknowledges our hard work and the sustainable changes we’ve implemented across EBRD counties of operations.”

Makhmudova emphasised the lessons of courage and collaboration in her acceptance speech, noting how these values have driven widespread reforms and innovations in compliance practices.
Beyond her professional triumphs, Makhmudova has made substantial contributions to community development, such as enhancing educational resources in rural Uzbekistan and supporting healthcare facilities during the COVID-19 pandemic. Her efforts have not only transformed compliance standards but also improved lives and communities.
