Vache Baroque, The Tempest. A semi-opera

Vache Baroque, The Tempest

In collaboration with theatre group Out of Chaos (“limitless invention and electric storytelling” The Guardian), this year’s headline show will kick up a storm. Performed under a big-top tent with open vistas onto a magical lake and woodland, Shakespeare‘s spoken text will flow in dynamic harmony alongside 17th-century music and surround-sound live electronics.

Much of the music included in this production was originally composed by Henry Purcell, Matthew Locke, Pelham Humfrey, and others for a late-17th-century version of The Tempest. Numerous pieces by other European composers of the period will also feature, as well as shanties, improvisations, and a full masque by Purcell.

Grounds will open at 3pm for picnicking and exploring before the opera.
The first half will start at 5.30pm, with an hour-long dining interval at c.6.30pm.
The second half will start at c.7.30pm.
The show will end at c.8.30pm.
