Horizon 22: all of London at your fingertips!

Horizon 22 – the highest observation deck in Europe is now open in the heart of the City of London, on the 58th floor! A high-speed elevator takes you upstairs in 44 seconds, and the panoramic gallery offers views of almost the whole of London – Westminster, the Tower of London, the Gherkin, also known as 30 St. Mary Ax Street, and further, further…

In total, the building at 22 Bishopsgate, designed by PLP Architecture for developers AXA Investment Managers, has 62 floors. And located here, in addition to the observation gallery, are many new office spaces, a gym, bars and restaurants. Horizon 22 is free to attend, but tickets must be booked in advance.

In the words of Phillip Shalless, Senior Asset Manager at AXA IM Alts: “As the highest free public viewing gallery in London, we hope Horizon 22 will become a must-see destination for anyone visiting, living, or working in this great city. Horizon 22 supports the Corporation of London’s ‘Destination City’ vision, which aims to increase the City’s appeal to visitors seven days a week. Horizon 22 offers unparalleled views across the capital. Whether you’re a first-time visitor to the city, a local worker wanting to do something different in your lunch hour, or someone looking for that memorable place to propose, the soaring views from Horizon 22 provide the perfect backdrop.”

The gallery also features a café serving soft drinks and snacks. The café’s baristas, Keisha and Michelle, told LC that they have “been working here since it opened and love the gallery atmosphere where people are genuine and approachable, and the view is always amazing.” As another employee, Kevin, said: “I can’t imagine getting tired of this view. It’s also very nice to hear stories from visitors about places in the city, which become a part of the whole experience.”

“The opening of Horizon 22 is yet another huge vote of confidence in the City’s status, not only a global business hub, but also as a seven-day-a-week destination for everyone to enjoy. On top of the much-needed office space that 22 Bishopsgate provides, I am delighted that we can now widely share its free to access, public viewing gallery, which promises some of the best possible views of London,” said Shravan Joshi, Chairman of the City of London Corporation Planning and Transport Committee.

Tickets for the observation gallery can be booked on the Horizon 22 website.

The site is open on weekdays from 10:00 to 18:00, on Saturday from 10:00 to 17:00 and on Sunday from 10:00 to 16:00.
