The Real Artist Behind Colleen Hoover’s Confess Brings New Work to Nobu Hotel London
Eclectic Gallery presents Awakened Dreams, a solo exhibition by Liverpool-born artist Danny O’Connor, hosted at Nobu Hotel London Portman Square from 11 to 23 August 2026, with a private view on Thursday 13 August, 6–8pm.
O’Connor is best known internationally as the artist behind Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel Confess: every painting attributed to the book’s fictional artist, Owen Gentry, was created by O’Connor, and his works went on to feature throughout the novel’s television adaptation. His paintings have since been collected and licensed by V Starr Interiors, the design company founded by Venus Williams, and commissioned by Hard Rock Hotel, Ellesse and Everton FC.
Awakened Dreams presents a new body of work exploring the threshold between the conscious and unconscious mind, where identities blur, emotions surface and reality dissolves into dream. Fusing portraiture with graffiti, comics and German Expressionism, O’Connor’s hyper-stylised paintings sit at the intersection of fine art and street culture, built up in dense layers of spray paint, ink, charcoal and collage.
O’Connor’s work has been exhibited internationally at venues and fairs including BMW World Munich, the LA Art Show and the Affordable Art Fairs in New York and London.
