A week in Alpin Juwel: where luxury meets the Alps

A week in Alpin Juwel: where luxury meets the Alps

Allow yourself to succumb to the allure of the mountains. As soon as you find yourself among the gorgeous peaks, you immediately embrace the challenge of the pose. They simply suggest testing your speed, strength, and stamina without inquiring as to whether you are prepared.

Just a few weeks ago, the idea of spending a week in the mountains with a 12-year-old who loves adrenaline and ricks would have made me giggle. I can now see that this was a brilliant move on my part when staying in the Austrian Alps’ Alpin Juwel Hotel. Having flown from London to Salzburg in about 1 hour and 45 minutes, we now find ourselves in Saalbach-Hinterglemm, a place where the outdoors, luxury, and adventure all come together…

Alpin Juwel – a place to stay

From the moment you step foot in the hotel, you’ll notice the meticulous attention to detail. As a concept that influences all aspects of design, service, and atmosphere, his motto “Exclusivity, individuality, difference” is more than just lovely words.

“We are definitely an unusual hotel. Everything we do is based on the principles of naturalness. For example, organic food. People don’t see the difference between apples, but one is natural and the other is treated with pesticides. The taste is similar, but your body feels the difference at the cellular level,” explains Alex Schwabl, the owner of the pool.

The interiors of Alpin Juwel are characterized by a contemporary Alpine style, with ample use of wood, natural materials, and expansive panoramic windows. You can tell it’s going to be a relaxing, chic, and peaceful place the moment you enter the space. However, the sensation of conscious relaxation is paramount. Indulge in the hotel’s thoughtful design that allows you to relax and recharge in style.

They care for the planet, not just humans.

In a world where conscious consumption is becoming increasingly important, Alpin Juwel is one step ahead. Their concept of AJ Eco Resort is not a marketing ploy, but real actions that are changing the hospitality industry.

Eco-friendly technologies: microorganisms are used in construction to reduce chemical effects, and water undergoes special structural treatment, improving its quality.

Safe cleaning: the hotel has completely abandoned chemicals, which reduces water consumption and makes your stay healthier.

Energy efficiency: minimized electromagnetic radiation, special switches and a Samina sleep system that provides deep rest.

Organic food: only natural products from local farmers, no processed food. The restaurant operates according to the Zero Waste concept.

“We are told that salt is harmful. But why? Because people use industrial salt, which has nothing useful left. We have pure rock salt, mined in the mountains, it is rich in minerals and gives the body everything it needs,” says Alex.

And now consider this: how frequently do you stay at hotels that prioritize both your comfort and the preservation of nature?

Winter in Saalbach-Hinterglemm: a ski paradise

If you come to Alpin Juwel in winter, be prepared to understand the infrastructure of one of the best ski regions in Austria.: 270 km of trails, 70 lifts. Plus endless opportunities for outdoor activities.

Even I was at ease, though I’ve never thought of myself as a professional skier. There are challenging slopes for expert riders and lots of easy, freeride-friendly terrain for newcomers. If you’re looking to shake things up a bit, I’ve compiled a list of all the options:

✔ snowpark for trick lovers;
✔ Night skiing (and yes, it’s just a fantastic experience);
✔ tubing and toboggan runs;
✔ Quad bike rides and horse-drawn sleds;
✔ Paragliding (for the bravest).

After a long day, Alpin Juwel is the ideal spot to unwind and recharge.

How about summer?

For those who think that Alpine resorts are just winter, I’ll say one thing: you just haven’t been here in the summer. What you can expect:

✔ 400 km of hiking trails;
✔ 400 km of mountain bike trails;
✔ Ski lifts – all year round;
✔ Crystal clear lakes, waterfalls and forest trails.

Here, you can switch to a different rhythm of life, not chasing speed but simply enjoying every moment.

Alpin Juwel is an ideal place for family time

I was traveling with a youngster, so I paid close attention to children’s entertainment. In this aspect, I was quite satisfied with the hotel, as there are:

✔ children’s club with animators;
✔ climbing wall, play areas, board games;
✔ Huge playgrounds with trampolines.

While the kids have fun, parents may relax in the spa or on the panoramic balcony with a glass of Austrian wine.

Alpinveda Spa takes recovery to a new level.

If you still have energy after a long day (or if you don’t), Alpinveda Spa is the place for you.

“Our spa programs are not just massages. We work with Ayurvedic therapists, using essential oils and natural detox methods. For example, aura scanning is not a myth, but a scientific approach to energy recovery,” explains Alex Schwabl.

Here’s what’s definitely worth a try:

✔ Aura scanning and therapy;
✔ Detox programs;
✔ Yoga on panoramic terraces.

I must say that following a massage and aromatherapy session, I felt like a different person.

Why I’m definitely coming back

Alpin Juwel combines comfort, care for nature, and active recreation with deep recovery. I only spent a week here, but seven days was enough to completely reboot and fall in love with such a place.

“Nature has everything we need. And we just create conditions in which guests can feel it,” says Alex Schwabl.

For those who are looking for the perfect balance between nature, activity, and luxury, Alpin Juwel is the perfect choice. And if you, like me, come here with a 12-year-old speed lover, be prepared—your child won’t want to leave. This is true for everyone who has visited.
