Lugano Elegance 2025: Luxury without barriers

In the south of Switzerland, just above the Italian border, lies a city that looks like a postcard. Lugano. A lake with glassy water, soft alpine contours, pastel façades, and silence broken only by the sound of fine shoes on stone. Every spring, this quiet town transforms into a stage for one of Europe’s most refined events.

From May 16 to 18, Lugano will host Lugano Elegance. Officially, it’s a classic car concours. In practice, it’s a celebration of taste, aesthetics, and atmosphere. These cars aren’t hidden in exhibition halls. They’re parked in the heart of the city. No fences. No tickets. Just the open streets. Alfa Romeo 6C, Aston Martin, Ferraris from the 1950s — displayed like sculptures against the backdrop of historic architecture and chestnut trees.

The event began in 2013, initiated by the Lions Club Monteceneri. A few collectors decided to share their cars with the city and raise money for charity. It started almost as a friendly gesture. Today, it’s an international event with judges, patrons, evening receptions, and a place in the calendars of Geneva, Milan, and Zurich.

Friday afternoon marks the arrival of the cars. They roll into Piazza Riforma to the sound of live jazz and the clinking of Franciacorta glasses. Saturday is the main day. Vehicles line up along Via Nassa and the main square as judges deliberate and the public strolls among them, unhurried. Sunday is dedicated to young classics — models from the 70s, 80s, and 90s. The mood is more nostalgic, slightly relaxed, perfect for a family walk.

You don’t need to know the difference between coachbuilders or chassis codes. You just need to know how to look. Lugano Elegance offers the chance to spend a weekend surrounded by beauty, in a city that moves slowly, and with style.
